Lydia Hwang
Lydia Hwang (Pei-Quincita), born in China and relocated to Taiwan at an early age. Lydia studied for many years in Chinese brush painting with Professor Hong-Zhen Chen, a well-known artist and Taiwanese National Treasure in Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, sculpture, and woodblock painting. For 7 years in High School and College, Lydia studied western painting (sketch, life drawing, watercolor, pastel, oil) with Mr. Chen Cihng Hui. After Lydia immigrated to the United States, she continued in her art and began teaching which resulted in various awards for both disciplines. The art demonstrations and teaching, led Lydia to numerous solo art exhibitions as well as appearing in countless group art shows. Public libraries, corporations, universities and private collectors have acquired her paintings. In 2006, Lydia finished a 50 individual body of work for Dr. W. Dyer’s “10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace” Cards Project (Hay House Publishers). In 2014, Lydia retired from Skokie Public Library after 30 years of public service, she continues to teach at North Central College, the Chinese cultural school, and continually participates in demonstrations & workshops to showcase her art.
